August 12 Barcelona

Well had a great Birthday in Barcelona on a gloriously hot day with the clearest of skies since we arrived. In fact we were grateful it had been overcast for the days previously as otherwise we could not have survived the open bus trip of 3 hours plus.Had a coffee OJ choc croissant in a bar down below the hotel and hit the streets. First stop the Picasso museum..really great overview of his work and life and a must see. Caught a cab out to a mall but the shopping difficult in terms of look, I think culturally just different all looks a bit Farmers frilly in the ladies wear even Zara looks a lot like Barkers!.....and between seasons for many things.
Foe lunch ended up right on the marina and had razor clams followed by lamb! Actually wouldn't rate their fish.
Had a siesta and then wandered down La Rambla in the evening after having a large San Mig at the ground zero table at Zurich cafe...the location, location, location cafe at the top of the Rambla. Got burnt off by the sprint for the first try at a table but Gend scored my birthday drinks treat table with ease. Decided to walk down to the port again and ended up in a double imax feature of Shackleton re created in Imax......actually got seasick for some of the sequences followed by the new 3d imax sharks as Gend has txted...amazing technology found yourself shutting your mouth and ducking as the jelly fish hit you in the face. The sharky bits were a bit disappointing actually I guess we have been all sharked out but they haven't scored the good stuff on the 3d cams yet. Didn't eat as were not hungry and strolled home about midnight accompanied by all families and kids of all ages all amping along regardless of time. The pedometer will be very interesting something I have always wondered is just how far all that wandering about takes you. well today a modest effort compared to yesterday we clocked up 8.5k.
